Brownie Troop #24131 has decided to provide 100 hours of service in the community and we have  a "100" theme for everything we are doing this year.

Stuffed Animal Project
Rather than running a food drive to help a local food pantry we decided to collect something that would have more impact on our 7/8 year olds.  We collected stuffed animals from family, friends and neighbors.  Our goal was to collect 100 but in only three weeks time, they collect 750 animals!  We delivered them to the Wexford Food Pantry, located in Northway Christian Church.  Karen Rose, the director of the food pantry was overjoyed that the girls were willing to give away their own animals as well as collecting so many more.  The stuffed animals will be used to bless families that would like to give gifts to their children over the holidays and special events.

Children's Book Sale at the Cranberry Library
In conjunction with the MOMS Club Cranberry North, our troop decided to collect books for the library book sale.  This was the first time that the library had a book sale totally dedicated for children's books in a separate room.  Our troop's goal was to collect 100 books once again, but they collected 1,500 books for both the children's section and the regular book sale held by the Friends of the Library.  Our troop collected and sorted the books and worked the bake sale.  The MOMS Club coordinators (Monica Valentine and Jennifer Cranston) ran the book sale while our troop ran the bake sale.  The total made from the sale $1,100!!!

Girls from the Cranberry Area Girl Scouts came out to the Municipal Bldg on Saturday, November 19th to assist with the American Red Cross to help make cards for Veterans.  Approximately 50 girls attended and made over 200 cards!  Great Job!

Mr. Roger's Sweater Drive

5 troops participated (four troops from Cranberry (20761, 25141, 20434 and 21921 from Mars). All troops meet at Fountain Park Church for our regular troop meetings and so we did this WITH Fountain Park through the month of November. Girl Scout troops were asked to put at least one collection bin somewhere and we had the communal bin at the Municipal center. In all, the troops collected over 1000 articles of clothing!!! We added that to what Fountain Park collected on December 4th (the first day of Allison's 100 Days of Caring) and officially donated them to The Lighthouse on Rt 8. All donated clothing were then given by Lighthouse to struggling families and individuals in our Butler community for use through the winter.

Girl Scout Sunday was celebrated at Discovery Christian Church on March 4, 2012.  Shannon Bitzer, Isabel Beede, Cara Roberts, Jessie Critch, Rachel Rafferty, Kaylee Roberts and Allison Love handed out programs and were recognized for their community service.

Elisa Park and Ella Ward, Cranberry Township Troop 20754, went on the European Girl Scout Journey Tour with EF Tours in June 2011.  They had the privilege of participating in a pinning ceremony at both Pax Lodge, London and Our Chalet, Adelboden, Switzerland. These pins are only given to Girl Scouts who actually visit one of the four worldwide centers of World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, WAGGGS.
