Pinewood Derby - Hope Lutheran Church, February 17th, 2012

On Feb. 17, 2012 we hosted a First Cranberry Township Girl Scout Pinewood Derby. It was a big success! We actually ended up with girls participating
from Cranberry Township, Evans City, Zelienople, and Portersville. At the event, participants brought canned goods and other items that were donated to The Scouting for Food Program which is run primarily by area cub/boy scouts. All items donated to The Scouting for Food Program go to the food pantry which is located at St. Ferdinand's Church in CranberryTownship. As well, girls and families, voted on the girls cars in various categories (Best Workmanship, Best Paint Job, Most Creative Design, Fastest Looking and Overall Favorite Design) using quarters. All quarters/money used to vote with was used to purchase items for The Scouting for FoodProgram. In all, almost $100 was raised for this purpose.
Several girls from troop 20555 (Samantha Mill and Kyra Znaczko) and one girl from an Evans City troop (Kate Spinelli) helped tremendously with
registration and car check-ins. These girls worked extra hard and deserve a special thank you as well.

We would like to send out a special thank you to Cub Scout Pack 406 for allowing us to use their Pinewood Derby track. As well as the dads of girl scouts and cub scouts who stepped in to help out. Your time was also greatly appreciated. This event would not have been possible without the help of all of these people.
