Frequently asked questions 

How to join:

  • Contact us!
  • You will be asked to fill out a registration form with a registration fee
  • Troop Assignments will be assigned upon availability
  • Consider becoming a leader; first step in creating a troop.

We can always use parent volunteers!

  • We depend on adult volunteers! 
  • You can choose some important roles from troop leader, co-leader, assistant leader, teasurer, product sales chairpersons
  • Help with simple tasks as far as crafts, field trips, car pooling, etc.
  • Consider becoming trained as a first aider for the troop
  • Parent volunteers go through a registration process and background check upon joining

What are the activities that my daughter doing?

  • Troop activities depend on the planning of the troop leader
  • Larger area events include dances, badge opportunities, etc.  All area events vary according to coordinator's plans

What the specifics on my daughter's troop

  • Troop meeting time, place and frequency depends upon the troop leader's schedule.
  • All troops are independent but must operate under the rules and regulations of GSWPA and GSUSA
  • Most troops meet twice a month

What about other costs?

There are costs other than the annual GSUSA membership dues which include:

  • Any troop dues which are set by each troop leader
  • uniform parts which you should discuss with your individual leader as each troop decides what type of uniform parts they would like each of its members to purchase; a full uniform is never a requirement
  • occasional field trips and neighborhood events may incur a cost

Is fund-raising required?

  • troop fund raising is limited to 2 annual drives:  Fall Magnut Sale and Winter Cookie Sale
  • extra fund raisers are extremely limited and allowed ONLY if formally approved by GSWPA for extraordinary trips or events
